The line-up for the 2026 Formula 1 season has not yet been finalized. Which drivers will be on the grid next season? Find out below.
Driver 1: Max Verstappen
Driver 2: TBC
The Oracle Red Bull Racing team is once again in the spotlight this season. Early in the year, it became clear that the car was not the fastest on the grid, raising questions about whether Max Verstappen would stay. For a long time, rumors circulated about a move to Mercedes, but during the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend Verstappen confirmed that he will continue to race for Red Bull in 2026. The second seat, however, remains a major question mark. Yuki Tsunoda has shown inconsistent performances and seems likely to finish the current season, but his place for 2026 looks uncertain. Potential successors include rookie sensation Isack Hadjar, who is enjoying an impressive debut season, and young Brit Arvid Lindblad, who appears ready to make the step up to Formula 1 after a strong first year in Formula 2.
Driver 1: Charles Leclerc
Driver 2: Lewis Hamilton
Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton will continue as the driver duo for Scuderia Ferrari in 2026. The current season has been mixed, with Hamilton in particular struggling at times with the challenging Ferrari. Speculation is already growing that 2026 could be his final year in Formula 1. Leclerc, on the other hand, appears committed to Ferrari for the long term and is expected to remain with the team from Maranello for many years to come.
Driver 1: George Russell
Driver 2: Andrea Kimi Antonelli
The Mercedes team appears fully committed to its current drivers. Kimi Antonelli still seems somewhat uncomfortable with the car during certain race weekends, but he continues to receive full support from team principal Toto Wolff. For now, the German team has decided to keep its driver line-up unchanged.
Driver 1: Lando Norris
Driver 2: Oscar Piastri
With Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, McLaren has two very talented drivers, and the team appears intent on keeping both. The thrilling championship battle between the two in 2025 underscores that McLaren is content with this duo for the coming seasons.
Driver 1: Lance Stroll
Driver 2: Fernando Alonso
Aston Martin does not appear to plan any driver changes in 2026. Lance Stroll will remain with the team, although his contract is not public, so it is unclear how long he is signed for. On the other side of the garage, two time world champion Fernando Alonso remains motivated to fight for podiums and victories, partly thanks to the new regulations coming into effect in 2026. Adrian Newey, who joined Aston Martin in 2024, is designing the car for the 2026 season.
Driver 1: TBC
Driver 2: TBC
As usual, Red Bull keeps its plans under wraps for a long time. Currently, Liam Lawson and Isack Hadjar are driving for the team, and management is satisfied with their performances. However, changes seem likely for 2026. Rumors suggest that Hadjar will be promoted to the main Red Bull Racing team, while Lawson stays with RB. The second seat remains uncertain: Yuki Tsunoda is mentioned as a returning option, but Formula 2 talent Arvid Lindblad is also frequently cited. This makes a 2026 lineup of Lawson and Lindblad the most likely scenario.
Driver 1: Esteban Ocon
Driver 2: Oliver Bearman
The Haas team opted for a completely new lineup in 2025, and it has worked out well so far. Both drivers are performing satisfactorily and already have contracts for 2026, so no changes in the Haas lineup are expected for the time being.
Driver 1: Alex Albon
Driver 2: Carlos Sainz
In 2024, Williams announced that Carlos Sainz would join Alexander Albon, and the duo has not disappointed in 2025. The team is on track for a respectable fifth place in the Constructors Championship, and both drivers already have contracts for 2026. Williams is very satisfied with their performance, and no changes to the lineup are expected in the coming years.
Driver 1: Nico Hulkenberg
Driver 2: Gabriel Bortoleto
The Audi team, still racing under the Sauber name in 2025, appears to have found the perfect lineup with two fast and consistent drivers. Both drivers score plenty of points, and Nico Hülkenberg even achieved his first ever podium. Audi seems determined to keep this driver lineup for the coming seasons.
Driver 1: Pierre Gasly
Driver 2: TBC
Since the Australian Grand Prix, the Alpine team has been focused on a driver change. Jack Doohan was demoted to third driver after the Miami Grand Prix and replaced by Argentine Franco Colapinto, who already impressed at Williams in 2024. Colapinto appears set to finish the season and has a strong chance of driving for Alpine in 2026 as well. This is not yet certain, however, as Alpine still has other options in Paul Aron and Jack Doohan.
Driver 1: Sergio Perez
Driver 2: Valtteri Bottas
The Cadillac team is the newest addition to the Formula 1 grid in 2026. For a long time, it was unclear which drivers the American team would select, but they ultimately chose two experienced racers: Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez. Additionally, Cadillac appointed Colton Herta as third driver. The American, coming from IndyCar, will first compete in Formula 2 to accumulate enough license points for a permanent seat in Formula 1.
