Singapore Grand Prix – Marina Bay Street Circuit
The Marina Bay Street Circuit has been the scene for the Singapore GP since 2008. It is the first night race in Formula 1 history. The circuit is 5,065 meters long and, after Spa, it has the longest lap time of the current Formula 1 circuits on the calendar. It is very reminiscent of the Circuit de Monaco. This due to the proximity of the harbour and the crash barriers that are located so close to the track. The track, despite being a street circuit, was designed by Hermann Tilke.
The Singapore GP is characterized by no fewer than 23 turns, many brake zones and a bumpy road surface. In addition, the high temperatures and high humidity are physically demanding. The Singapore GP has a curious record. In all previous editions the Safety Car was sent onto the track at least once during the race. In total, the Safety Car has been deployed 20 times in 11 races.
