F1 drivers line-up

This season more than half of the contracts of the drivers expired. This means that there will be a lot of changes in the drivers line-up for the 2025 season. Currently, there are two more seats up for grabs, which drivers will take these? On this page you will be able to get a quick overview of the drivers line-up for the 2025 season.

Oracle Red Bull Racing

Driver 1: Max Verstappen

Driver 2: Liam Lawson

After lots of speculation, the drivers line up for Red Bull in 2025 did indeed change. Max Verstappen still has a contract till 2028, so he is secure. It seemed like Perez was also set to stay as he still had a contract. However, after the 2024 season ended, Red Bull put out the news that he will be replaced by Liam Lawson. Lawson will be Verstappens fifth teammate in Red Bull.

Scuderia Ferrari

Driver 1: Charles Leclerc

Driver 2: Lewis Hamilton

Before the season had even officially started, a shocking move was announced. In February Lewis Hamilton announced that he will be driving for Scuderia Ferrari in 2025. He will be joining Charles Leclerc in the line-up for the team. This move was not something anyone really expected, but it is definitely an interesting one. Did Ferrari make the right choice in sining the 7-time world champion? Or should they have opted with a rookie.

One thing is certain. Hamilton will bring a lot of experience to the Ferrari, and it will be interesting to see how the team will fare, and what the dynamics will be like in the 2025 season.

Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS

Driver 1: George Russell

Driver 2: Andrea Kimi Antonelli

George Russells contract is set to expire at te end of the 2025 season, so he is secure of a seat until at least the end of 2025. But the big question of the year was: who is gonna replace Hamilton who is leaving for Ferrari? Several names were mentioned in this discussion such as Alex albon, Carlos Sainz, Kimi Antonelli, and even Max Verstappen.

Eventually, during the Grand Prix weekend in Monza, it got announced that Kimi Antonelli will be taking the seat in 2025. While Hamilton is moving to Ferrari, Peter Bonnington (Bono) will be staying at Mercedes, get a promotion to Head of Race Engineering and likely be Antonelli’s race engineer. Thus, that iconic duo will be split up.

McLaren

Driver 1: Lando Norris

Driver 2: Oscar Piastri

McLaren have one of, if not the strongest driver pairing on the grid. Both drivers consistently score points, and are even competing for championships. This is also why McLaren will stick with both of them for a while longer. Both Piastri and Norris have a contract with the team for a few more years.

However, the fact that both drivers are strong also brings its challenges. McLaren has been struggling to prioritize either Norris or Piastri when necessary, claiming they do not have a number one driver. If both drivers and the team keep fighting for wins, this is something McLaren needs to have under control for the future.

Aston Martin Aramco

Driver 1: Lance Stroll

Driver 2: Fernando Alonso

Lance Stroll seems to be able to keep his seat as long as his father is in charge of the team based in Silverstone. Fernando alonso is also set to stay in 2025 as his contract with Aston Martin got extended.

but even though the driver line-up of Aston Martin does not change, the team does have a brilliant new addition. In 2025 Adrian Newey will join the team and take up the position of Managing Technical Partner. Will Newey be able to help Aston Martin become a world championship-winning team?

Visa Cash App RB

Driver 1: Yuki Tsunoda

Driver 2: Isack Hadjar

Yuki Tsunoda has had several teammates during his time at RB, and he will get a new one for the remainder of the 2024 season. After the Grand Prix weekend of Singapore, it was announced that Liam Lawson will replace Daniel Ricciardo for the rest of the season.

However, because Lawson will be driving for Red Bull in 2025, the seat was up for grabs again. A short while after Lawson was announced for Red Bull, it was revealed that Isack Hadjar would be taking the second RB seat. The French driver finished second in the 2024 F2 championship and will now be making his F1 debut in 2025 alongside Yuki Tsunoda.

MoneyGram Haas

Driver 1: Esteban Ocon

Driver 2: Oliver Bearman

A team which has a completely new drivers line-up for 2025 is Haas. The first seat will be occupied by Esteban Ocon. Haas will be the fifth team that Ocon drives for. Oliver Bearman will take the second Haas seat. Bearman has driven in two FORMULA 1 races this year, Jeddah for Ferrari and Baku for Haas. On both occasions he scored points. Besides this he has also participated in several Free Practice sessions.

Williams Racing

Driver 1: Alex Albon

Driver 2: Carlos Sainz

Alexander Albon has signed a contract extension for 2 years after having already driven 3 seasons for Williams Racing. The big question was, who is going to be his teammate? Several names were mentioned when discussing the Williams seat. Could Frederik Vesti or Kimi Antonelli take it to prepare for a potential future Mercedes seat? Or is Logan Sargeant staying? Then in July it was announced that Carlos Sainz will be joining williams alongside Albon in 2025.

Unfortunately, the F1 adventure came to an early stop for Logan Sargeant. After the Dutch Grand Prix weekend it was announced that Franco Colapinto would be taking his seat for the remainder of the 2024 season. However, because Carlos Sainz will be taking the williams seat in next year, Colapinto will not have a seat (yet) for the 2025 season.

Stake Kick Sauber

Driver 1: Nico Hulkenberg

Driver 2: Gabriel Bortoleto

In 2026 Sauber is set to be taken over by Audi. It has been known that Audi would have a preference for German drivers. Which is why it makes sense that they have signed Niko Hulkenberg for the 2025 season. But who will be the driver that takes the second seat?

That would be Brazilian driver Gabriel Bortoleto. Bortoleto was a member of the McLaren driver development programme, however, by the end of 2024 he will be released from the programme to join Sauber. The Brazilian already has a F3 championship title on his name, which he won in his debut year in the series, and he is well on his way to win the F2 championship as well.

BWT Alpine

Driver 1: Pierre Gasly

Driver 2: Jack Doohan

It was likely that the Alpine Drivers line-up for 2025 would stay the same, however, after Ocons move to Haas, there was a new seat up for grabs. Pierre Gasly announced in June that he would be extending his contract with the French team. So who will be his teammate in 2025?

That would be the Australian Jack Doohan. In 2022, Doohan joined the Alpine Academy and is also the teams reserve driver. In 2025, he will be the one to drive next to Pierre Gasly.
