Circuit of the Americas

The United States Grand Prix is the home race of the current F1 owners – Liberty Media. It has been part of the FORMULA 1 Championship since 2012. The race takes place at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) which is located southeast of Austin, the capital of the state of Texas. The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is located close to the circuit.

COTA is designed by the American architecture company HKS together with Herman Tilke. The circuit has a length of 5,513 meters and has 20 turns. In addition, the Circuit of the Americas follows the natural slope of the area. It is a technical circuit where it’s important for drivers to find the right rhythm. This is especially challenging in the first sector, where the height difference is greatest with fast corner combinations. Like Singapore, Abu Dhabi and Interlagos, the circuit is driven counterclockwise. COTA is also known for the viewing tower that offers a great panoramic view of the circuit and surrounding area.
