Mexican Grand Prix – Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez

The Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez circuit is home to the Mexican Grand Prix in Mexico City. It is named after Mexican brothers and FORMULA 1 drivers Ricardo and Pedro Rodríguez. F1 first visited this track in 1963-1970. The second period spanned between 1986-1992. Subsequently, F1 has returned to Mexico City for a third time as from 2015. For this return, the circuit has been thoroughly renovated. The modernization has taken place under the leadership of Hermann Tilke.

More information about the track

The racetrack is located at more than 2,200 meters above sea level. The thin air makes for roaring FORMULA 1 engines. As a result, the power sources are limited in fuel supply, so they do not blow. In addition, the chassis of the car plays an important role because of the many turns on a relatively short track. Hence, the Mexican Grand Prix – Mexico City is a real test for the total package of the car.

The Autódromo Hermanos Rodriguez circuit is only 4,304 meters long and has 17 turns. It is located in the southeastern part of Mexico City, within the boundaries of Magdalena Mixhuhca Sports City public park. Typically for the Mexican Grand Prix is that the drivers drive underneath one of the main grandstands just before the start-finish. This causes for great scenes on television, but live this is even better! The spectacular racetrack, combined with the avid Mexican Racing fans, make this Grand Prix special. A real gem on the F1 calendar.
