About the Italian Grand Prix and Monza F1 Circuit

The Italian GP has been around at Monza since the beginning of the official FORMULA 1. That was during the world championship in 1950. Except for 1980, when the Italian GP was held once at Imola.

The circuit measures 5,793 meters long and is located in Monza. Monza itself is a good 20 kilometers north of Milan. The track officially has 11 turns, but in fact there are only 4 real bends. The other corner numbers indicate no less than three chicanes. All meant to take the speed out of the track and banish the dangerous slipstream fights of the past. Despite these measures, Monza GP is still the showcase for high-speed circuits. To illustrate: almost 80% of a lap on this circuit is full throttle in a modern FORMULA 1 car.
